I disagree. Sex can be romantic. Forget that “you can do it with anyone.” If you’re willing to just wait - and I mean REALLY wait…

Wait until you are absolutely completely in love with that person. Until you have told him and shown him that he is your world in so many ways. Until you frustrate yourself trying to express to him that violent fluttering in your chest or that feeling that makes it impossible to stop smiling until your face hurts; and no matter how hard you try to explain these things, all that will come out is a silly cliched line. Wait until no matter how close you are, you still want to be a million times closer. Closer than any hug or kiss can bring you. Wait until you are doing this not because you’re just a horny teenager, but because you want to express your love in every single way possible.

Sure, if you sleep with people you aren’t in love with, it’s usually not going to be romantic (and I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that). But sex is also a way of expressing your love. It is as physically close as you’ll ever get to someone and if you wait until you’re just as close emotionally, then it’s an amazing thing. It’s an incredibly romantic experience to share with someone you really truly love.
